2004 Campion Allante LS 645i SC
Campion Boats of Kelowna, British Columbia is Canada's largest independent boat builder, building 37 models with 40 different variations. On today’s profile, we take a close-up look at the Allante LS645 ISC.
Sitting at the dock, the 645's dockside profile appears sleek and eye catching, especially for a cuddy. At first blush, the cockpit appears fairly standard, but as we played with the many configurations, we soon discovered differently.
The wraparound seating for up to seven includes a walk through transom, which quickly converts to a dining table large enough to serve a banquet, and then into a sunpad of queen-size proportions.

Campion has even located the all-important cooler where it is needed most -  positioned under one of the cockpit seats.
Up front, the automotive style helm features tilt-steering, and a well laid out array of black on white Feria gauges with chrome bezels set into a stylish non-glare panel. The captain's plush bucket seat includes a comfortable flip up bolster
.
The wraparound windshield provides easy step through access to the bow where the integrated anchor locker is a nice bonus on a boat of this size. Off the swim platform, this folding ladder makes reboarding easy, and comes with a ladder-down safety light at the helm.
A Campion signature, the integrated lights on the bow and optionally under the swim platform, make docking at night safe and easy.
Generous access to the spacious cuddy is located through a folding acrylic door at the front of the boat, and a port-a-potty is conveniently concealed under the berth.
Of course, the heart of any boat is the power plant. Under the easy access engine hatch, our test boat was powered by Mercury's 350 MAG MPI inboard with an Alpha 1 drive powering a Mercury Revolution 4, 19-inch pitch, 4-blade stainless prop.
Heading out onto Lake Okanogan, it was a beautiful day to put the LS645 through its paces. Our hole shot test revealed a scant 4.9 seconds to plane, a great time for a 3700 pound boat, and all the while, the view across the bow remained clear and unobstructed. The 19 degree dead rise Apex hull tracked beautifully through the corners, always offering a very predictable ride with no surprises in handling.
The GPS registered a verified top speed of 50.5 miles per hour at 5,000 rpm on our high-speed pass, demonstrating that the Mercury 350 MAG MPI engine is well matched to the hull. This is a boat that wants to go, and with a perfect combination of features and performance for family cruising, or wet-and-wild water sports, you'll want to go along with it.
Campion has been making a conscious effort over the last few years to really raise the bar on the quality of their boats, and that's certainly evident here in the Allante 645. It delivers all the fun a family can handle, but it's also well designed for water sports enthusiasts, all in all, delivering great performance at a reasonable price.
